Our History

The Birth of a House

After working for more than 20 years alongside my father Claude, I am fortunate to do so today with my son Ferdinand, cellar master of the House since 2015.

We sign each of our vintages as a duo.

After leaving the family group in 2005, I wasn't destined to create my own company. Having the ambition and the means to do so is not enough.

In a traditional world like ours, you have to be able to contribute.

Without revolutionizing, you have to find your style. And for three years, I persisted in de-Taittingerizing my palate, something that's difficult when you've been bottle-fed at the same Maison for 25 years.

But not only that.

“But in a world as codified as that of Champagne, it's not enough to have a name or an ambition. You have to find your place. Bring something personal, without betraying your heritage. Without revolutionizing. Just assert your style, with rigor and sincerity.”

Virginie Taittinger

A MOTHER AND SON DUO

Always stronger together.

My name is Ferdinand Pougatch-Taittinger, and I am the son of Virginie Taittinger.

Since childhood, Champagne has been part of my daily life, my heritage, my culture. It's more than a profession: it's a common language that we've shared in the family for over 160 years.

With my mother, we decided to create our own House: VIRGINIE T.

A free, independent House, founded on two essential pillars: transmission and excellence.

Signing as a duo, vintage after vintage

Since 2018, I have had the honor of being cellar master at Maison VIRGINIE T., and above all, of signing each of our vintages with my mother.

Creating the best champagne means going beyond wine. It's a demanding profession, a craftsman's work, where nothing is left to chance: observation, patience, precision, humility.

Together, we go further. We challenge each other, we refine, we surpass ourselves. There is no compromise in our creative process.

Every decision is made as a duo.

Do well, and let it be said

I was lucky enough to be around Claude Taittinger from the moment I was born. He passed on to me this phrase that I keep as a compass every day: "Do well, and let others talk."

This is exactly what my mother and I are doing today. She is an exceptional woman, demanding, visionary, and exceptionally generous.

Working with her is a source of immense pride. It's also a responsibility, and a driving force.
